Womens Fashions-Racing to the (Pajama) Bottoms

I know, this is my LAST post of 2024. I am sure that this will make all 10 of you who read it sad. Take heart! I will continue to post, mostly for my own amusement I know, next year.

Woman Dressed As Vagrant-Fashion leadership?

In this post I will lament the sad state of girls fashions in this country. I am old enough to remember when girls and young women dressed to look nice. Curve flattering jeans, sexy high heels, mini skirts. I know, not always, but mostly. I admired them, you know, from an academic learning perspective.

Today I observe that girls and young women compete with boys and young men for pre-eminance in looking like hobos and homeless wretches. I know, boys have always dressed badly. I certainly did when young. But why in the world would GIRLS choose to emulate this disreputable behavior? What could have caused women to abandon looking nice?

I will try my best to answer my own last question, but let me describe what I see young girls and women wearing on a daily basis. Tight fashionable jeans have been replaced by loose fitting, form hiding, ripped apart pants. THIS is fashionable people? There are better dressed women in the slums of Port au Prince. They may be wearing the NICE looking pants that girls tossed out to buy these execrable togs, after having given them to Goodwill.

OK this is bad enough. But I see girls all the time walking around, IN PUBLIC, wearing pajama bottoms, bedroom slippers or crocs, and faded T shirts of questionable origins.

The following pictures demonstrate what I am saying here. These women are dressed to watch TV in the rumpus room, or clean out a garage. NOT to make an impression in public. Now there is no law that says women owe anyone a pleasant visage, but does any of them really want to look like back alley transients? There are literally better dressed people in homeless encampments or hurricane survival shelters.

Dressed as every husbands nightmare. Va Va bleah.
What, your 8 pairs of black yoga pants in the wash?
This is now considered proper attire for weddings and proms
Ain’t this sexy? I call this hobo chic. And these shoes are bad for your feet!
Note the contrast, this is how women dressed in the ’80’s.
Blue Jeans in the good old days.
Who wore shoes better? Chuck Taylor girl or her?

The upside is that women can be fashionably dressed after rooting thru the donation box at church. But trust me, if you are at all interested in the attention of males, fuggetabboutit. The young guys are all shopping for mates on international match websites.

In answer to my question above, I can only speculate. Women’s fashion has long been a strange mystery to all guys. I guess that women, in their zeal to demonstrate that they can outperform males in every way, have won the race to the (attire) bottom. They have succeeded in looking more slummy, more bedraggled, more unkempt than my forlorn and disreputably dressed gender. You win! This is like winning the worlds smelliest dumpster contest though. Of dubious merit. Might want to reconsider, just saying.
